Cousins reunited

We have had a busy, fun Summer. We made our annual trip up to Maine to Deirdre & Mike's cottage in York. Kids enjoy seeing Tolla & Gavin and Deirdre and I get to hang out too.

This was a short trip this year so we hit the beach and then York's Animal Kingdom.

Maeve adores Tolla and Liam like to push Gavin's buttons and be just like him.

Nothing like a childhood friend

Alana and I have been friends since 1st grade. We grew up together and have always been part of each others lives. We lived together in Boston after college, moved separately to NYC and then back to Boston where we started our familes.

We had the luxury of watching our children become friends and enjoy each other's company when together. This winter Alana and her family moved to Maryland, but we will make the effort to see each other 1-2x per year.

Maeve & Alair really enjoy playing together and now that Paul is 2 years old (going on 4 in many ways--soo smart), he plays nicely with the "big kids" too.

Alana invited us to Rhode Island for the weekend where we spend our time at Paul's parents lovely home in Old Greenwich.

We played in their gorgeous backyard and hit the beach. We are hoping to make this an annual trip and may even rent a home in RI with them next Summer.

So amazing to watch your daughter adore your best friend's daughter. It was like watching a mini Danielle and mini Alana.

A veggie garden in the' hood

City living won't keep us from trying out a veggie garden. We decided to plant a little garden this year and have the kids help plant, water & watch their veggies grow.

Karl set up the garden space and took kids to Home Depot to pick out veggie packets. For our trial garden we have tomatoes, peppers & carrots. And we recently added chive and basil pots.

Karl and Liam picked this carrot from our garden and the kids shrieked with delight to see a carrot and ate it up in no time asking for more.

YUM.

Summer Swim

A few pictures taken on a hot Summer day spent at the Quincy Y ( to workout) and Hanover Y ( for swim class) and Pool.

I am loving these long summer days spent at the pool and a cookout for dinner--reminds me of my childhood and kids are having a blast.

Can't wait to see how their swimming will improve for the rest of the Summer. They are starting to swim on their own and really try and paddle and kick their feet. They love putting their heads under water and playing around.

Three pics I took today and adore.

America's Birthday!

Kids were excited this year to celebrate July 4th aka "America's Birthday".

We had a busy weekend and kids were fantastic. We played at the beach, dined at a BBQ, hit the Needham Parade and took a walk in the woods. Liam loved it so much he told me this morning he wants to live in the woods. His love of nature doesn't come from his Mother who is not a camper and prefers her bed and comfort.

Kids loved the two flags we bought them to celebrate the occasion and have been singing all their Patriotic songs learned at Ms Tricia's this passed school year. They also enjoyed singing Happy Birthday to America at the cookout and of course loved all the sweets.

Summer is finally here. Please don't come and go too quickly.
