Are we 5 yet?

I have been asked this question for weeks, "when are we going to be 5". Maeve and Liam were so excited to turn 5, the excitement in them would melt your heart. They both woke up this morning and measured themselves against the growth chart and asked if they grew taller!! Funny how kids minds work. We kept telling them they were getting bigger by becoming 5 years old and they assummed that meant taller!

We woke up today and had a special breakfast of pancakes and bacon ( daddy usually makes the bigger breakfasts around here but mommy made mickey mouse pancaked which were a huge hit)  They were shipped off to school and on the ride we took a little video....

School was a great day. We arrived to Sarah giving them balloons, a crown was made at school and hoodsies were enjoyed by all.

This afternoon we chilled out as a family and they opened their presents. We gave them itouches and they LOVE them. They look like teenagers listening to their music. Liam was loving U2, especially Numb which made Karl happy. Maeve was bopping along singing too.

Tonight we had a family BBQ at St Peter. Liam had a blast being independent and playing with his friends and Maeve just wanted to be by my side, a tired BIG 5 year old.

Happy Happy Birthday to our Miracle Babies. Mommy was sad today and can't believe her babies are now 5. I will always be happy on this day, but will never forgot how you entered this world and how you spent the first 2.5 months of your lives in the NICU. You were both so strong and battled every single day and you have grown into smart, beautiful, funny,  kind, loveable children.

Maeve-you are sweet, beautiful and a Mommy's Girl. You love your Mama and would be my side-kick all day long. You love your friends, school, your teachers Mrs Walsh and Ms Tia and the independence from your brother. You have started gymnastics and are playing soccer, but need to realize you can run as fast as everyone else and still be great. You shine when you love something and get nervous to try new things, but once you do you are so proud of yourself. You still remain a happy, smiley child who likes routine, to follow the rules and to have fun! Your favorite thing to do is to color and play at the park with your friends. You are enjoying writing all the letters and numbers at school and love all the songs and music and come home singing them. You love to learn and love to tell me everyday what you learned at school. I can't wait to see what this year will bring.

Liam-You are my fire. You are so sweet, yet so feisty. You like to have your way all the time, but can compromise when needed. You are hilarious and have a huge personality. You are smart, inquisitive and like to ask many many questions all day long. You love school, your friends and teachers and love to play with everyone--you gravitate towards the friend who wants to play the same thing as you. You are learning to share more and are learning that the world doesn't revolve around you--its a hard thing to learn but you'll get there. You love your Mom and Dad, but are a daddy's boy. You look just like Daddy, but have Mommy's fire. I can't wait t see what this year brings....hopefully a loose tooth like your sister, who really is your best friend. You adore one another.

I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck!!

Love,
Mommy

Annual Apple picking trip to Parlee Farms

Apples season started early this year and today was the only day we could fit it in before the apples trees went bare.

We drove up to Parlee to ride the hayride and pick lots of yummy apples. This is one of our favorite family activities and it was such a beautiful day. The only thing we missed, well me the most, were those scrumptious apple cider donuts--the line was way too long:(

We picked lots of honeycrisp, fuju and some japanese apples too. We came home and chef liam helped mommy prepare crockpot applesauce and some apple muffins while Maeve watched the Patriots with Daddy.

gymastics, soccer, hip hop

This week was the first full week of school and all the fun activities to go with it!

Maeve chose gymnastics and liam chose boys hip hop. Maeve had a blast with her friends and Liam did too, but it was harder for him not having a buddy in class.

This weekend Liam started flag football and was excited he won the game. Soccer started too, and Coach Daddy was back on the field.

We have some tired kids, but they are having so much fun with their activities!!

Maeve lost her 1st tooth at Storyland

We had a FUN weekend away with great friends at Storyland and the most memorable part will be Maeve loosing her 1st tooth. Her tooth was wiggly on Thursday and little by little it got looser and looser. After a day of rides, screaming and fun, Maeve was so brave as she wiggled and pulled out her tooth-the smile on her face was priceless. Liam was so happy for her too. We will never forget this day. And, lucky for us, the Tooth Fairy knew where to find our sweet little, almost 5 year old girl:(

Back to School

First Day of School--we are all happy this day has arrived. After a super fun, super busy, summer the time has come to buckle down into our routine again. Kids woke up happy, got dressed with no complaints and let me take pictures for their first day.

They are in K1, which is equivalent to Pre-K, since they miss the cut off for Kindergarten. Drop off went well this morning. Liam gave me 100 kisses and Maeve was happy to see her old friends and her bestie too. Mrs Leard, their preschool teacher, was in the room taking pictures of the kids with their parents and Mrs Walsh was very friendly and helpful.

This is going to a great year, we are blessed to have Mrs Walsh the last year before she retires!

Happy Fall.  Bring on the pumkin flavors, apple picking, beef stew , big 5 year old birthday and our trip to IRELAND.
