Maeve who? Liam who?

They thought it would be funny to trade jackets, hats and be the other twin and try and trick Daddy when they rang the doorbell.

This could be good bribery when they get older, but at the time this picture crackd me up because they thought they were two geniuses. Love these kids!

First ER visit!

I knew the time was eventually going to come and honestly I can't believe it took us 5.5 years to get here.

BAM. Liam's1st visit to the ER for stitches.

It was Saturday night and kids were running around the house, despite us telling to stop, and BOOM Liam ran smack into the corner of the wall. Insert SCREAM and blood. Thank god Karl was home, as this incident made me realize how I need to better cope with blood and keep my cool. I panicked.

Karl ran upstairs with Liam to apply pressure and all I saw was blood and a ton of it. All I could think of was that he was going to have a scar and we had to go to the ER and it was Saturday night. Karl asked me to get him some supplies and I couldn't get my act together, I was shaking and screaming and I wasn't the one hurt. Liam was so brave and Maeve just looked at him stunned taking it all in, but pretty calm.

We drove to Children's Hospital and Karl sat in the back applying pressure and Maeve came for the ride as there was no one to watch her. Bridget, such a good, selfless friend insisted on picking Maeve and I up in the ER and drove us home as it was going to be a late night. We were trying to dodge the flu epidemic that is here in Boston and so far a week later we are OK. On the ride to the hospital I told Liam I broke my arm as a little girl ( white lie as I only buckle fractured my wrist) and he said when it happened did Mimi yell at Poppi like you yelled at Daddy??....I laughed.

Karl stayed at the ER with Liam for 5 hours.  They both were super brave and with lidocaine jelly, Liam was all numb when the Plastic Surgeon stitched him up, only 3 stitches that lasted for 6 days.

So proud of our boy, who was so brave and the next day asked why everyone kept calling him as he didn't want to tell the story over and over again. We told him he looked so cool with his bandaid and he said "no one at school thinks I look cool". I would have told him he looked like Harry Potter except he doesn't know he exhists yet.

All smiles, all stitched & stitches out.

Happy Birthday Songs to Mommy & Daddy

Kids love celebrating Karl and my Birthday more than we do since they fall 3 days before Christmas and 2 days after Christmas. We celebrated with presents, dinner & cake of course and I will always cherish the Birthday songs. It was just the 4 of us on my birthday and Liam said " Mom why don't you have any friends over to your party"....he's too much!

Irish Step and Skiing

We had a weekend of firsts, Maeve started Irish Step Teams and absolutely loved it, she said
" this is so much fun and better than gymnastics with a huge smile on her pretty face".

Practicing in her uniform

And Liam tried skiing for the first time and loved it. His Instructor wasn't the best (  16 year old girl) so he was frustrated as he just wanted to take off and ski. But he can't wait to go back and ski with me.
All suited up and ready to go

I met Sue, Rosie and Desi and we took the T from JFK into Garden, kids love their train rides. At the show we met Sarah, Charlotte & Catherine, Sue, Dave, Katie & Emma. This years show was 100 years of Disney and Maeve loved wearing her Princess Aurora dress and feeling magical!

Happy New Year

I am late on this post, shocker! New Years was pretty mellow this year as Karl was sick and Sarah. Our tradition is to sleep at The Perry's and let kids play and then we have a nice dinner. But this year Sarah was sick and Karl too, so we had dinner & then came home. The Bridges and Bennetts joined us and it was chill but fun.

My New Years resolution is to continue with this blog, to clean the house more regulary now that we have much more space:), to continue on my losing weigh track ( I said 40 lbs before 40 years old, so I have 29 lbs left in 11.5 months. I also want to follow a more structured routine and I started couch to 5k running and plan to the gym M, W & F. I feel so great when I workout and eat consistently and I need to remember that....

Hopefully next year we can have the kids tell us a resolution....they will be 6 and understand it that much more.

I am not sure Karl made one....I have to ask again....
