BAM. Liam's1st visit to the ER for stitches.
It was Saturday night and kids were running around the house, despite us telling to stop, and BOOM Liam ran smack into the corner of the wall. Insert SCREAM and blood. Thank god Karl was home, as this incident made me realize how I need to better cope with blood and keep my cool. I panicked.
Karl ran upstairs with Liam to apply pressure and all I saw was blood and a ton of it. All I could think of was that he was going to have a scar and we had to go to the ER and it was Saturday night. Karl asked me to get him some supplies and I couldn't get my act together, I was shaking and screaming and I wasn't the one hurt. Liam was so brave and Maeve just looked at him stunned taking it all in, but pretty calm.
We drove to Children's Hospital and Karl sat in the back applying pressure and Maeve came for the ride as there was no one to watch her. Bridget, such a good, selfless friend insisted on picking Maeve and I up in the ER and drove us home as it was going to be a late night. We were trying to dodge the flu epidemic that is here in Boston and so far a week later we are OK. On the ride to the hospital I told Liam I broke my arm as a little girl ( white lie as I only buckle fractured my wrist) and he said when it happened did Mimi yell at Poppi like you yelled at Daddy??....I laughed.
Karl stayed at the ER with Liam for 5 hours. They both were super brave and with lidocaine jelly, Liam was all numb when the Plastic Surgeon stitched him up, only 3 stitches that lasted for 6 days.
So proud of our boy, who was so brave and the next day asked why everyone kept calling him as he didn't want to tell the story over and over again. We told him he looked so cool with his bandaid and he said "no one at school thinks I look cool". I would have told him he looked like Harry Potter except he doesn't know he exhists yet.
All smiles, all stitched & stitches out.
